About the Campaign
Gazans are still human
The genocide in Gaza has filled our screens nonstop for two years. Our hearts went out to the Gazans, but eventually, we stopped seeing people. Instead, we saw casualties, victims and statistics.
Behind every number, there is someone who looked forward to the weekend football, who liked to DM their friends funny videos, who had aspirations and goals cruelly taken away.
The physical devastation is evident, but there is something else disappearing quietly in the background – the recognition of a Gazan’s humanity.
This erasure of their humanity is unacceptable. Gazans are still human. And, today, you can help someone in Gaza feel recognised, remembered, and real again.
#GazaConnect
Join the Gaza Connect programme
Gaza Connect is a pen pal project giving you the opportunity to write a personalised letter to someone in Gaza. We are inviting people of all ages and backgrounds to take part.
Pen pal is when two people who have never met each other communicate and form a relationship through letters and, in modern times, email.
The deadline to submit your letter is Sunday, 1 March 2026. We kindly request that all submissions be no longer than 100 words and that your letter be written for a young child’s reading level, with a simple message of hope and encouragement.
Thank you for your interest in being part of this initiative.
This round has now closed, and we are no longer accepting submissions.
FAQs

Gaza Connect is for people of all ages and backgrounds. We encourage families to take part together as a group activity. The pen pals in Gaza range across different ages, so we welcome participants from every generation.
You can talk about yourself, your interests and hobbies. Feel free to mention anything you’re comfortable sharing.
We kindly request that all submissions be no longer than 100 words and that your letter be written for a young child’s reading level, with a simple message of hope and encouragement.
You want your pen pal in Gaza, who feels hopeless and cut off from the world, to feel hope once again. To feel like there are people out there who care about them. Be sure to include a positive message that helps Gazans feel seen.
You cannot choose your pen pal. We will match you with a pen pal, depending on your profile and the contents of your letter. For example, if you are an 18-year-old male football fan, we will try to match you with someone in Gaza who shares your interests and profile.
Gaza Connect isn’t a traditional pen pal initiative where you exchange regular letters. This is your chance to send a one-off message of hope to someone in Gaza who has experienced a severely turbulent last 24 months.
Please click the button below to write your letter. Once we receive your letter, our partners on the ground will print and translate it, and match you with a Gazan who shares your interests. Your words will serve as a welcome relief to a population completely disconnected from the world.
